Overview:
In the high mountains of Velmoria, where queens reign by rite and the throne answers only to feminine essence, a lone prince must undergo a fateful transformation. As Prince Caelan reaches his 20th year, Queen Alinora invokes the ancient Empress Clause: Caelan will not pass the crown through marriage but wear it himself. To do so, he must become not only queen in title, but woman in body, mind, and spirit.
In Veil of the Heir, players shape Caelan's path through mental, magical, and political transformation. Will you embrace destiny or defy tradition?
The story follows Prince Caelan's enforced or chosen transition into Queen Caelene, determined by the player's choices.
Changelog:
v0.0.18 Dev Log - Valetia ArcSessions 6–7: Foundation Dressing New focus: the visible layers of a queen's wardrobe, following on from Sessions 1–5, which only ever covered underclothes
Veletia moves Caelan from what's hidden beneath the gown to what the court actually sees
Key beats:
Session 6 opens with a summons to the Bloom Room and a full four-layer build: chemise, corset, bodice, gown, each explained in turn as Veletia dresses her
Corset fitting is the emotional hinge of the session, branches on how Caelan reacts to seeing her own silhouette (fascinated, unsettled, or wanting to move past it) before the paths rejoin
Bodice and gown layered on top, culminating in the first look in the mirror as a fully dressed woman rather than a prince in borrowed clothes
Dressing mechanics taught explicitly: the full eight-minute routine broken into timed steps, then drilled solo until she can do all four layers unassisted (eleven minutes, several things crooked, but done)
Session ends with Veletia gifting a small brooch and a solo walk back to her chamber in the gown, tested against a servant's reaction in the corridor
Session 7 opens in a converted gallery, three skirt lengths (tea, ankle, court train) used to teach walking, turning, sitting, rising
Curtsey taught in four depths (shallow, medium, deep, deep with train), tied explicitly back to the drop-step from her combat training, same core mechanics, different room
Stair work added last, ascending and descending in each skirt length, capped by managing a train on the stairs without stepping on it
Final assessment is a single unbroken circuit, walk, sit, rise, curtsey, stairs, turn, mirror, performed in front of both Veletia and Maera with no corrections allowed
